Discover the design of Bugsy :

I leverage SwiftUI, SpriteKit, and WeatherKit to render hyper-realistic weather effects like rain and snow. Behind the insect, a dynamic background layer adapts to these conditions in real-time. Each species has its own specific scenery and behavior. To complete the immersion, I implemented a parallax effect driven by the device’s gyroscope, creating a sense of depth and vitality.

As users progress, they collect duplicates that can be traded with friends. I designed this interface to make trading as intuitive as possible: users simply drag their duplicate (orange bubble) onto a friend’s (blue bubble).

To streamline the experience, the target bubble turns gray if an exchange is impossible—whether due to a pre-existing duplicate or specific user preferences, such as phobias or personal tastes.

FRIEND EXCHANGES

Language has always been the core of our interactions. I wanted to see what happens when we cross the barrier between species. That’s the magic of Bugsy Chat: using advanced generative AI, I infused each insect with a personality rooted in real-world biological behavior. Because nature is ever-changing, the chat adapts in real-time—a butterfly hiding from the rain, a mantis hunting at dusk. Every conversation is unique, contextual, and alive.

AI CHAT

I developed a custom iconography system to categorize insect roles through a unified visual language. Each icon is an abstract representation of a biological function, built on a shared geometric grid to ensure perfect consistency. By using a restricted grammar of shapes and a cohesive color palette, I created a set that feels both intuitive for the user and mathematically balanced.

ROLES ICONS

Every trophy tells a story. I designed the rewards as a visual narrative where the same ant evolves through different chapters. From Bronze to Gold, the scene completes itself as the user achieves new goals. For seasonal trophies, I applied a biological principle where shapes are sharp and geometric in the cold, but soften into organic curves as the seasons warm. With over 30 unique trophies, the system turns every achievement into a captivating piece of craft.
